About the piece:
This is the story of an unwilling martyr who knows she will die but runs away. She tries to save her best friend, who later turns her in to the authorities. As she runs, she witnesses the gruesome death of a small girl who died because she, too, was a Christian. This changes the martyr’s mind and she begins to aid the rebels in their fight against the persecutors, and takes up writing for them, writing incendiary writings of all types. Writings that fuel the anger of the people. The persecutors are furious and find out where she was from the best friend she tried to save. They find the martyr and kill her on the steps of the Louvre in Paris. Then, you are able to hear her thoughts as she passes on. Though I debated writing her journey to heaven, in the end I left heaven a mystery because nothing I write could ever compare to its glory.
